How getSmartCoders used Drupal to assist a Fortune 1000 media company increase conversions by 45%

About Client

Our client is a Fortune 1000 media company. They have become the go-to media company in the South European market for their highly informative newsletters that provide weekly updates on Tech, Lifestyle, Politics, and Sports.

Client’s

Problem

The client’s effort to increase the number of subscriptions for their weekly newsletters backfired and led to an increased bounce rate of up to 75%. This, despite having thousands of visits to their website each day. The user recordings showed a few dead clicks, and it was evident that the UI/UX did not provide users with a seamless experience. The client was looking for a solution to reverse this trend and tap into more prospects.

Findings

After evaluating the client’s site, we found that the client was using Drupal 7- an outdated version of Drupal, the support for which had been officially stopped from Acquia. Therefore, the user experience offered by the site was not seamless and responsive enough for Gen Z visitors. Besides, the site was exposed to various security threats.

Challenges

In order to create a practical solution, our team came across some obstacles like:

Making changes to a website which used an outdated Drupal version

Transforming an unresponsive UI to a responsive one.

Updating the Workflows

Unresponsive UI

  • By eliminating 90% of the bugs, we were able to increase the number of new users by 60%
  • The new interface brought in 15% more GenZ users to the website and also the subscribers’ list
  • The dwell time of an average visitor hiked to 1.5 minutes on average.
  • We also decreased the bounce rate by 50%
